Site Info

Can I change Currencies without becoming a member?
Yes, by using the "Select Currency" option located at the top right of every page on the site. You can shop, securely, in Euros, US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, British Pounds, Australian Dollars, and Japanese Yen. If you register as a member, then every time you log into the site, the currency will be displayed based on your Shipping Address details by Default. That is the currency you will ultimately be charged in when placing an order.

How does your Currency Conversion work?
Usually on a daily basis, we update our conversion rates, and those conversions are done based on our standard currency, the Euro. We get the conversion rates through our Payment provider, WorldPay, and apply no markups to them.

Why are prices different now?
Since our entire site is based on the Euro, and we change our conversion rates so often, you may notice discrepancies in the latest price and past prices. This is due only to fluctuations in the currency exchange. At the time you place your order, your credit card will be charged for the amount and currency that is in your shopping cart. The email confirmation you receive will show the exact information that was displayed on your shopping cart. Afterward, if you access your Order Management section, the prices may be off from what is listed there if you view in a currency other than Euro. If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to email us at info@ogills.com.

Shipping

Why are the lead times so long?
The majority of our products are handcrafted, and only starting to be built at the time of your order. Because of the high quality our craftsmen take in creating your item, it can take longer than simply buying something off the shelf. The lead times expressed on this site are in Business Days, so a lead time of 9 to 11 days would really equate to more than 1 week, as Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays are not factored in.

How much is it going to cost me to ship my orders?
Shipping charges and times are entirely up to you. When you Proceed to Checkout with your items, several options will be displayed, depending on the country you are shipping to. You can decide to go with a slower delivery to keep the costs down, or a faster option if you need it in a hurry. In either case, the price you are charged is the price we are charged, or even lower in cases where Duty and taxes are applied, which are paid for by oGills, and not by you.

How is my order shipped?
At checkout, you will have different options available, ranging from Standard post to next day delivery. You can have a look at our Shipping Policy for more information. All of our products are shipped out of our Dublin office to any of the countries we currently deliver to. These include Ireland, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand. If you wish to ship to a country not listed, then please contact us by email at info@ogills.com

Or if you wish to contact us by phone call this number during regular office hours and please remember that we are based in Ireland so there will be a time difference from what ever part of the world you live in:

00 353 1 8775906.

How Long will it take for my order to ship?
We ship all our orders through Fedex International Priorty Shipping. This will ensure that your order will arrive in the most safe and quickest possible way. You can also track your order in transit with Fedex and we will provide you with this tracking number so you will be able to see your order in transit. Transit times to: USA~ 1 business day Canada~ 1 business day Australia~ 3-4 business day Japan~ 5-6 business day Europe~ 1 business day

Why should I become a member?

I was viewing my orders in the Account Manager and noticed that the numbers don't add up correctly, or do not match what I ordered!! What's up with that??
All of our products are stored in our base currency, the Euro, and the amounts you are seeing may be shown in a different currency. Since we change our currency rates several times per week to reflect the fluctuations in the market, it's quite possible that will affect the displayed amounts in your Order Manager. Rest assured that the amount you saw when checking out is all that was charged on your card.

Do you have any available catalogs?
Currently no we don't have any available catalogs. All our products can be seen online. Feel free to contact us with any questions you have at info@ogills.com for assistance in placing an order or if you have any questions.

Is your site safe to shop on?
You will notice when you are in our secure area that the address of the page uses HTTPS in the beginning of the address. This means you are on a secure website. Furthermore, you should see, at the bottom right of a secure page, a symbol that looks like a padlock. Double-clicking this will show you the validity of our Server Security. Why does jewellery sometimes blacken the skin or clothing ?

Discoloration I blackening of the skin or clothes by items of jewellery causes doubts about the quality of the piece. Knowledge as to why this happens should help to dispel fears and may even suggest simple solutions. This data sheet attempts to explain how these effects may occur and how they can be overcome.
There are two fT)aiQ\~~4~!~ of ,bi,$ form of discoloration : 1. Metallic Abrasion' ,'. 2. Corrosion
1. Metallic Abrasion
All metal can wear by: a. Constant rubbing against itself i.e.links in a chain, swivels.
b. Rubbing against other hard substances i.e. talc -a very hard, fine powder.
The jewellery is not abraded by rubbing against the skin or clothing as neither is harder than the metal. However, the skin and clothes can carry hard particles from cosmetics, face and body powders, stiffeners/fillers in modern textiles, talc etc. The particles abraded from the chain appear black because they are so finely divided, and a small amount of abraded metal creates a large amount of dust. When this dust
.is in contact with absorbent or slightly greasy surfaces it can stick and form a black mark.
This can be reduced by: a. Removing the causes -avoid harsh, textured cosmetics, do not talc areas where jewellery is worn b. Harden the surface of the jewellery by gold or rhodium plating.
2. Corrosion
Pure gold is resistant to most chemicals associated with human skin. However, pure gold is rarely used to manufacture jewellery as it is too soft. It is therefore alloyed with other elements to improve its wear-resistance. Lower carat jewellery has higher additions of other elements. These alloys are no longer completely corrosion resistant and can be superficially attacked by a range of relatively mild chemicals.
2a. Tarnishing
Tarnishing occurs under dry conditions, i.e. in storage. It is caused bya reaction with sulphur compounds (particularly forming silver sulphide) and can generate a thin brown tarnish film and if not cleaned off prior to wearing, this will rub off on to the skin.
This can be reduced by Cleaning after storage and before wearing by rubbing down with a soft cloth. If this is insufficient, cleaning with a proprietary cleaner may be necessary (i.e. detergent, Goddards cleansers or Silvo etc).
2b. Corrosion by the Skin
Corrosion also occurs in the presence of weaker chemicals when aided by moisture i.e. sweat. Sweat is mainly water but also contains
sodium chloride (salt), ammonia, urea, fatty acids (lactic) and fat. It may also contain traces of other elements (particularly sulphur com- pounds and others associated with medications). These essentially mild chemicals when combined with moisture and a slightly elevated body temperature can combine to cause surface corrosion on any jewellery in contact with the skin.
The typically mildlr acidic nature of carrier alcohols in perfumes can also speed up this process. This can be reduced by: .Frequent cleaning of jewellery, especially if it is exposed to perspiration, cosmetics, perfumes. .Plating of lower carat jewellery to prevent even superficial corrosion.
